In Other Words Tuesday

“Faith is deliberate confidence in the character of God
whose ways you may not understand at the time.”

~ by Oswald Chambers ~

I have always been intrigued by the scriptures found in Job. Clearly Job was a man in pursuit of God. Yet the details of Job’s wife are a bit sketchy. We know she was quite, “open” shall we say, about slandering God during a time of heavy and intense trials and testing.

I think sometimes we fail to acknowledge that she too was in the thick of it all. She too was watching everything around her crumble apart. She too lost her children, her livestock, her friends and social status. But most of all she seemed to be on the cusp of losing her husband.

Of course she was bitter. Hurt. Angered. Despaired. Lonely. Confused.

I wonder what her relationship with God was like. Did she pursue Him? Did she pray, never ceasing? Did she believe that each day of trial brought her a day closer to peace and rest? Did she ever still herself in His presence?

I wonder if we truly sought after Him, not the blessings, not the answered prayers, not the fleeting feel good moments of church, etc. then how much greater our faith would be. Maybe that’s where our faith really lies… in the foundations of knowing the character of God.

Welcome 2011

The final chapter of 2010 has closed. Thankfully. It was a theatrical year for me. I learned and experienced feelings and emotions at deep, intimate levels. I was challenged in ways I never envisioned could occur. Between life at full speed and Elle, my blogging had to be placed on hold.

But with the new year of 2011 I am eager to see what is to come! It’s a fresh start beginning with a new coffee maker, restarting the One Year Chronological Bible all over again, a new blog design and reacquainting myself with you!

Welcome 2011!
